Sadness. Regret. Anger.

Sadness. Regret. Anger.

Our Diabetes family is a family filled with D Warriors, each of us with a unique voice; all of us with the same passion and determination to not only live our d-lives, but to help others to do the same.

We teach and we learn by our shared experiences and our lives continually connect with one another.

The family keeps growing and we get to know some members very well. Some members keep quiet, but their presence is always felt. Some members we are just beginning to know, and have the best of intentions to know them better in the future.

We laugh and we joke and we do the work required, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no time off for vacations or good behavior.

It’s easy to forget that you can do everything right, and still things can go horribly wrong.

When we lose a member of our Diabetes family, there’s sadness, regret and anger.

Sadness because it breaks our hearts and brings our deepest fears to the forefront.

Regret, because we wish we had more time with, or to know that person better.

And anger, because we don’t want to lose another person/family member to diabetes.

Cynthia Kahn, I wish I’d had more of an opportunity to know you better and I wish I’d met you in real life. But I’m so grateful we communicated on-line because you always made me laugh and smile!

Sending prayers to you and your family.
