What if the Queen Had Balls?

Tonight I fast...Fast for the battery of blood work that accompanies my Tri-monthly Hemoglobin A-1C.
Last night I fasted and was supposed to have blood taken this morning, but deadlines called, and tomorrow will have to do.
I don't know about you, but the anticipation of the fast; the test, the results, and what they mean, tends to do a bit of a head-trip on yours truly.
Will my numbers be good, or at least improved from last time?
Will medications have to be upped, lowered or added?
Am I on the continuing path towards health, or will my sister's words which paralyzed me years ago (see January posting) comeback once again to haunt me?
Tests freak me out, always have. Just go ask my High School Math teacher. Poor Mr. Mandell would watch as I'd start to tear-up during the test. I'd study so hard, my parents would pay good money they didn't have for a tutor, and I'd pass, at least the night before the test in the comfort of my living room, with my math tutor Joe, a former Big Band singer and WWII pilot with a great head for numbers. But during the actual test in school, I'd psych myself out, freeze up and forget everything.
Mr. Mandell would actually work in extra credit points that only I would know. For instance, on 1 exam the extra credit would be a point for every Woody Allen movie we could name. I got at least 10 extra points on that one. Another exam had us name previous Oscar winners and the films they won them for - that was at least 15 points thrown my way.
As an adult, I suffer from "White Coat" syndrome. They normally have to take my blood pressure several times because the 1st one is always high due to the fact that I know how important my numbers are.
It's really ironic, I can talk to large groups of people about living with diabetes and only suffer from butterflies and the wonderful adrenaline rush, but have Nurse Practitioner Chick take my blood pressure, and I have to talk myself down from a ledge of "What-ifs."
"What if my blood pressures high?"
"What if my urine tests have protein?"
"What if my blood work shows something that just should not be?"
Then I ask myself, "What if the Queen had balls Kelly, what then? Hmmm, good question.Well, then She'd be King or a really fabulous Drag Queen that’s what if….Get over the fear and get on with your life Kel!"
As Diabetics we live in fear of the dreaded "What Ifs,"on a daily basis.
I'm tired of the power that the "What Ifs " hold on me and I’m purging them from my life right now!
I'm going to focus on the fact that these tests are there to help and inform me, not hurt me.
I' m going to learn from them and live my life to the fullest.
Technology is our friend and knowledge is power.

A Drop In The Bucket-

THOUGHTS TO PONDER: How many times a day do we turn on the faucet for a variety of differnt reasons and actually think about how the water got there, or how clean said water actually is?
We fill a pot with water to cook something in, we wash vegetables to put in said pot, we run our toothbrushes under cold H2O and wash our hands under warm water to clean off dirt, germs, and the likes there of. We fill a glass up with water whenever we need to quench our thirst.
Back in the days before disposable needles, my father and sisters had to boil water and sterilize their needles they used for insulin. How Diabetes Dark ages is that!
If your like me, you take for granted the fact that each of us has clean water whenever we need it. Clean water is literally at our finger tips- whenever we want it. We take it for granted and carelessly let the tap run because we've never NOT had clean water.
NEWSFLASH: People in developing countries aren't so lucky!
My friend Chis, a Type 3/man about town decided to do something about that.
Chris gave up his birthday gifts and Christmas gifts and decided to give a gift in the form of a water, to people in a faraway village he's never even met.
Chris's goal is to raise 5,000 dollars for a water well and spotlight Charitywater.org

So far, Chris is hitting the water ball out of the park (I know, that really doesn't make any sense, but you catch my drift,) and has raised $4,343. Chris has 22 days left to raise the remaining $657 dollars.
So my friends, if you have a dollar to spare this Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend, or would just like to learn more about Chris's effort, click HERE and read all about it.

After reading about his efforts, you'll definitely think about how your water made it into that glass the next time you pour yourself some H2O.

Why Homeopathy?

Most people, when they are unwell, go to see their NHS GP. In most other countries, patients usually see a conventionally trained doctor. The outcome is that usually they leave the surgery or hospital with conventional treatment, usually pharmaceutical drugs.
Rarely, if ever, are they told about Alternative Medical Treatments, like Homeopathy, and how these might treat their illness. Indeed, Conventional Doctors are not qualified to give such advice. They are trained in their discipline alone, although many will seek to dissuade patients from having anything other the conventional medical treatment.
Yet more and more people, thoughout the world, are turning to alternative therapies, such as Homeopathy.
Often, perhaps too often, the reason for doing so is negative. Patients have found out that pharmaceutical don't work, or that they pose dangers, side-effects that are actually new diseases. Often people just want to avoid it conventional medical treatment, often at any cost.
It is only later that they discover the benefits of their decision - that Alternative Medical Therapies, like Homeopathy, are far more effective, far safer, and much less expensive medical therapies.
Yet, the choice of Alternative Therapies, especially Homeopathy is, and should be, a positive choice for patients. If more people were more aware of the dangers of Conventional Medicine, and more people were aware of the benefits of Homeopathy in the treatment of all illnesses, they would be better able to make an 'informed' choice about the medical therapy they wish to use for their illness or condition.
This is the purpose of my new website, Why Homeopathy?
This website looks at individual illnesses and diseases, and compares Conventional Medical treatment with Homeopathic treatment. It has arisen from three factors:
1. In line with Government's policy on 'Patient Choice', "No decision about me without me", there are a growing number of people, and patients, who want to choose the medical therapy they prefer.
2. The failure of the NHS to provide comparative medical information of this kind, and the almost total domination of the Conventional Medical Establishment within the NHS, means that it is very difficult to obtain this information.
3. The growing misinformation campaign, and the attacks being made on Homeopathy by members of the Conventional Medical Establishment. This ranges from Homeopaths being called 'witches' by the British Medical Association, and the oft-repeated mantra of Homeopathy Denialists, in the pay of Big Pharma drug companies, that 'there is no evidence' for Homeopathy.
The new 'Why Homeopathy?' website can be found here, and the number of illness covered is increasing gradually.
