Make It Happen..."IT'S" A Challenge Sometimes

I'm really trying to live by these words.

Some days it's so easy and everything comes together like clockwork.

Other days it's incredibly hard and I feel like quiting.

Today it's hard.

But like diabetes, you do what you have to and keep moving forward.

Making "IT" happen takes hard work and I'm up for the challenge.

Some days the challenge just takes more out of me than I'd like.

HFCS and a Side of Mercury Please.....& 3 is not necessarily a magic number!

HFCS and a Side of Mercury Please.....& 3 is not necessarily a magic number!

Last week while I was in pre admission testing HELL with my mom for her upcoming surgery, my mailbox was filling up with emails regarding reports about the EVIL HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) containing Mercury. I watched as the headline dance across CNN’s screen at the surgeon’s office, which was about the same time I was checking my emails via cell and received a message from Scott on the very same subject!

The next morning, I received a note regarding the dreaded HFCS from Chris Coccaro, an intern with the ocean conservation group, Oceana, a group whose purpose is to protect the world’s ocean. Currently, they're working on a campaign about high mercury fish & seafood contamination, among other things.

Me being a Jersey Girl born and bred, a girl born two blocks from the beach and three blocks from the bay, and a woman who HATES HFCS, yeah – I was interested!

Chris said he found my HFCS posts “passionate,” which was just a really, really nice way of saying I go a little nuts on the subject, which...is true. He sent me the following article from the Chicago Tribune.

OK, if my crazy rants about HFCS wasn't enough to convince you about he evils of HFCS, perhaps the fact that you might be ingesting mercury might just do the trick. Why nut just suck down the quicksilver in your thermometer - it be cheaper

I’m just posting about it now. Yeah – I know it was last week.

On a personal note, the past week has been coo-coo, but I've managed to join Twitter, which I'm still trying to learn. My "Twit" name is Diabetesalic in case your interested.

So it's been crazy and damn If I don't have the numbers to prove it. Not blood sugar numbers either, though they were a bit elevated yesterday. No, I’m talking about infusion sets! Yours truly has set a new personal record in that area. I’ve managed to rush around so damn much that I’ve ripped three infusion sets out…and its only Wednesday! Yes, you read right, three sets since Sunday! Some say 3 is a magic number. I think it’s just painful.

Cutting out of work a bit early to swim a few laps and get back into the exercise swing of things. Look for another post Friday.

Homeopathy and Autism - an impossible cure?

Homeopathy and Autism - an impossible cure?
Some positive news about homeeopathy, and the fabulous results in can create! Autism is a disease virtually unknown a few decades ago; now it is rife amongst a large and growing proportion of children in the advanced industrial work - that is, those children who take most ConMed drugs and vaccinations (see http://s-scrutton.co.uk/Failure_ConMed/Chapter_5._ConMed_and_the_creation_of_illness.html).

The book 'The Impossible Cure: the promise of homeopathy' by Amy Lansky, PhD, has been around for some time now (have a look at http://www.impossiblecure.com). It provides a fascinating, in-depth account of the history, philosophy, and science of homeopathy, alongside the amazing story of how the author's son was cured of autism using homeopathy.

For anyone who has an autistic child, 'Impossible Cure' will serve as an invaluable guide to learning more about autism, its origins, and how homeopathy can help.

Now, also available to concerned, or involved parents, are two films, both currently in production.

'From within, without'has a 5-minute trailer at

'Saving a lost generation'also has a 5 minutes trailer, at

Both these reveal remarkable pieces of homeopathic practice, with two other families discovering the power of homeopathy.

They are both well worth watching.

Homeopathy and Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease)

Homeopathy and Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease)
Cuba is in the midst of a giant experiment to prove not only that homeopathy works; but that homeopathic prophylaxis is also highly effective. It has involved over 11 million people, the entire population, and provides strong evidence that homeopathy has been instrumental in reducing the incidence of Leptospirosis on the island.

Leptospirosis, or Weil's disease, is an infections disease carried by rats, and passed to humans through contact with contaminated water. It is common in tropical regions, after periods of heavy rain.

In Cuba, Leptospirosis is recorded by an efficient national surveillance programme. Its incidence correlates closely with heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding. In late 2007, in response to a developing epidemic, and with only enough vaccine to treat 15,000 high-risk people, the government decided to treat the entire population of the region, over one year of age, with a homeopathic medicine. This was prepared from the inactivated causative organism by the Cuban National Vaccine Institute.

The homeopathic medicine was given to the 2.3 million population of the provinces usually worst affected. Within a few weeks the number of cases had fallen from the forecast 38 to 4 cases per 100,000 per week, significantly fewer than the historically-based forecast for those weeks of the year. The 8.8 million population of the other provinces did not receive homeopathic treatment and the incidence was as forecast. The effect appeared to be sustained: there was an 84% reduction in infection in the treated region in the following year (2008) when, for the first time, incidence did not correlate with rainfall. In the same period, incidence in the untreated region increased by 22%.

This is yet more proof of the effectiveness of homeopathy. But more can be noticed from this story.

1. Previously, a conventional vaccine was used; its effectiveness was limited.
2. The fall in the incidence of the disease was not small, it was huge.
3. Cuba could not afford to vaccinate everyone because it was so expensive; but the homeopathic remedy was affordable.

All going towards proving that homeopathy is not only effective and safe, it is affordable as well.

Today Oprah & Dr. Oz Discuss Diabetes-WillThey Miss The Opportunity?

Today Oprah & Dr. Oz Discuss Diabetes-WillThey Miss The Opportunity?
Today is Oprah's show on diabetes & even though I have my fingers (and toes) crossed that Oprah & Dr. Oz will "get it right," I'm not holding my breath.

The info that's made it's way to my in box contains rumblings that the show will primarily focus on type2& worst case scenarios. Scare tactics regarding diabetes-HELLO-What about coping kills & positivity?
On FaceBook, Dr. Oz stated:
"I should clarify this is type 2 diabetes, which accounts for 90% of diabetes cases. Type¹diabetes is also a huge problem, but it's rarer & not related to weight."
As a member of the more than 1million Type ¹club, we exist- and unfortunately, our numbers are growing.
Oprah & Dr. Oz are missing a tremendous opportunity to inform & educate the world about type 1. Missing the opp to broaden the diabetes spectrum across the globe.
I'm on vaction (I'm actually blogging from my iphone,) I'm not sure if I'll be in front of the TV, but I will be DVRing it. And I will be discussing it online & off.
