I've been Tagged and yes, I'm mentioning Mrs. Butterworth

So, I've been tagged by Cara and here are the rules.
Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 weird, random, facts, habits or goals about yourself. At the end, choose 6 people to be tagged, list their names & why you tagged them. Don’t forget to leave them a comment saying “You’re it!” & to go read your blog. You cannot tag the person that tagged you, so since you’re not allowed to tag me back; let me know when you are done so I can go read YOUR weird, random, facts, habits and goals.

1. I think that if push would come to shove, Miss Frangelico Bottle could kick Mrs. Butterworth's ass in a Smackdown & I'd be willing to bet money on it!

2. I LOVE Olive Oil, but I'm not really that crazy about olives - go figure?

3. I love the way real vanilla smells and tastes BIG TIME, but I hate fake vanilla scented products, like candles, perfume, room deodorizer, etc. They makes me want to gag.

4. Whenever I go to see a Musical Play, my eyes tear up during the Overture and I'm not really sure why. I think because I really do love musical theater and I'm a huge "Rogers and Hammerstein" whore. Another musical sidebar, I associate years with songs.

5. The ocean makes me happy. Like John Denver, "Sunshine on my shoulder" happy.

6. OK, this is kind of weird....but whenever I change my infusion set in my belly, (it doesn't matter which side,) I feel transferred pain on the top of my shoulder. No lie, as I insert the needle in my stomach, 9 times out of 10 I feel a sharp pain in my shoulder area - How weird is that?

7. I love raw carrots, but I don't like cooked carrots.

8. I'm an excellent dancer, but I'm somewhat clumsy when the musics not playing - And my pump adds a whole new dimension to my clumsiness. And you know what? I'm fine with it.

9. I'm an excellent public speaker and have a gift for remembering conversation, but am terrible with names. I am working on name-games.

10. My life's goal is to be happy and to live a great life.

Who I've tagged and why.

Sotty J Because he makes me laugh.
Hannah - Because she's cool and I've actually met her face to face
Windy - Because she is a Diabetic Domestic Diva
Diane - Because she says what she thinks and tells it like it is
Naomi - Because she's a blog bud & she won the Diabetesaliciousness diabetes word puzzle game and kicked my ass big time!

Our 'Free' Press is controlled by Big Pharma, and Big Corp.

Our 'Free' Press is controlled by Big Pharma, and Big Corp.
This article was written for the Sunday Mail in April 2014. It was written at the specific request of a journalist who assured me that it would be published. As far as I can ascertain it has never been published. I did enquire of the journalist, who never responded to my email.

This is just another example of the British media refusing to criticise the conventional medical establishment, or to publish anything favourable to Homeopathy.

It would appear just one more example of our 'Free' Press being under the financial influence and control of big corporate business, including Big Pharma.

Homeopathy, Lothian Health Board and Patient Choice

Every political party supports the concept of ‘Patient Choice’. Yet the decision by Lothian Health Board to cease funding for homeopathic medicines is another example of the NHS diminishing our choice - by closing down the limited options available to patients.

The demand for Homeopathy, and other alternative treatments, is growing. People are searching for safer, more effective medical therapies. And when patients find Homeopathy, the evidence is that they like it
  • The campaigns against the closures of Homeopathic hospitals. These campaigns have been ignored by Lothian, and other local NHS organisations, leading already to the closure of one Homeopathic Hospital. All the others are under threat.
  • A more comprehensive study in Switzerland in 2011 was equally clear - people want the option of choosing Homeopathy as their medical therapy.
So how can the NHS oppose government policy on patients choice? The government says it is about ‘local decision making’. So patients can choose any medical therapy they want - as long as local NHS bureaucrats agree!

Let’s be clear. ‘Patient Choice’ means that any individual has the choice. It does not mean that personal choice should be determined by NHS bureaucrats!

The NHS Establishment, nationally, locally, and in Lothian, is dominated by conventional medics who offer us only pharmaceutical drug treatment on a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ basis. The NHS has become a monopoly: and like all monopolists, they want to keep it that way.

Why do people want to choose their treatment?

First, it is becoming clear that pharmaceutical drugs are failing.

Even Antibiotics now face levels of resistance that will make them redundant - imminently.

The conventional drug cabinet is getting bare!

Second, pharmaceutical drugs are dangerous. Even Statins, drugs once said to be “so safe we should all take them”, are now known to cause disease - liver damage, memory loss, and Asthma. Is it surprising that people want to avoid harm caused by drugs?

Third, people increasingly mistrust Big Pharma drug companies, who seem intent on selling their drugs regardless of the consequences to patients. They have been found to be bribing doctors, to over-hyped claims for drugs based on research they have paid for, and to withhold negative findings about their drugs. The drug companies have been heavily fined for such practices, and public trust in what they tell us is a diminishing asset.

So people look for safer, more effective medical treatments.

And the NHS says “No, we know best”.

So much for Patient Choice!

Day 7: Dream Re: "The Cure"

Hope floats

Day 7 of Diabetes Blog Week is all about dreaming the dream about life after the cure. Like if every one of us was given a pill that would make diabetes disappear.

Can I imagine life after the cure? Yeah, I guess. I mean it’s not that I don’t think about a cure, because I do. And when I was little I dreamed about it a lot.

But after 30 plus years of being told they a cure is "only 10 years a way," I’m more than a little jaded.

I don’t spend all my time thinking about a cure because I’d never be able to enjoy my life in the now.

But I still want, hope, and fight for a cure to be found and our right as PWDs to be cured.

I think life would be the same but different. It would still be complicated, but some how less so.

Life with a cure would be like it is with out one - except it would require less thinking, planning, & added diabetes expenses. I’d throw out all my supplies in huge Hefty Garbage bags and do "The Happy Dance” as I dragged them to the curb and said "So long."

I’d take all the money I spent in diabetes supplies and buy myself a nice beach front property, because God knows I’d have the down payment for one since I no longer spent money on diabetes related supplies, medications, doctors, etc.

I’d have more time to learn new things, maybe even become fluent in a couple of languages, because my head would no longer be filled with meal time math calculations and other diabetes crap facts that we need to know in order to survive.

I’d be more bright eyed and bushy tailed because I’d sleep better. No more middle of the night lows or sky rocketing highs that leave me sleepy during the workday.

Spacial issues regarding doorknobs would no longer need to be avoided and my fingers would no longer have freckled and calloused fingertips.

My beach house would give me beachfront access and I would take long swims in the ocean and pool, without unplugging anything.

And when I went out on my boat, (HELLO, I live on the beach, so I will most definitely need a boat) I'd be able to leave the house with just my keys (on one of those keychains boaters use that have a little floaty thing in case they drop in the water) instead of a mini pharmacy.

I do know for absolute certain I’d throw a party and invite the DOC.

It would be at the beach and we’d all spend the day swimming. We’d BBQ and I’d ask for extra sauce for my slow cooked ribs. There would be a pasta buffet with lasagna; spaghetti & meatballs, and the cheesiest manc and cheese any one’s ever tasted. The main course would be followed by an unlimited amount of cupcakes and truckloads of Ben & Jerry’s.

I’d have CRUMBS BAKE SHOP cater - it would be fabulous and filled with carbs – and no one would think twice..

At the end of the day there’d be a huge bonfire, and we’d all hang out, talking and laughing and having a fantastic time.

There’d be lots of laughter and hugging and champagne toasts.

And every single on of us, type 1, 2, or 3, would breathe easier.

On second thought, I guess I think about it more than I thought.

Hope does indeed float~

Advice For A Family Re: Their Over 18 Type 1 Child & Self Destructive Bipolar Issues

Advice For A Family Re: Their Over 18 Type 1 Child & Self Destructive Bipolar Issues
Well, today's post was going to be a Diabetes Blog Week Round Up and how fantastic Diabetes Blog Week was. Then I received the following letter early this afternoon from a Diabetesaliciousness reader and my Diabetes Blog Week post will have to go up tomorrow, because a DOC family member needs our help - BIG TIME.

Please read the following and if you have any advice or words of encouragement for them, comment or email me at Kellykunik@gmail.com and I'll pass your info along. Thanks DOC~
#####

Kelly - Please post this letter on your blog!

Does anyone in the D.O.C. Have experience with a young adult (and according to the law, legally independent of parents) who struggles with both bipolar issues and type 1?

Particularly with regard to situations where the swings of bipolar are such that self destructive behavior is involved.

Self destructive actions beyond but including even rudimentary type 1 care.
Any references to expert help, or experience with legal proceedings that may facilitate loved ones intervening are appreciated.

Thanks In Advance,

Stuck Between a Diabetes Rock & A Bipolar Hard Place ~

Leptospirosis. Homeopathy triumphs; ConMed ignores

Leptospirosis. Homeopathy triumphs; ConMed ignores
The triumph of homeopathy over Leptospirosis might count as 'old' news now, if it had not been so ignored by governments, the ConMed Establishment, and even the Medical Journals. A study published in August 2010 described the successful use of homeopathy in preventing the annual epidemic in Cuba. It helped over 2 million people, and as such is one of the largest homeopathic trials in the medical literature.

Leptospiros is a bacterial disease, one that is becoming a world-wide problem. It has caused many thousands of deaths every years. The use of homeopathy began in October 2007, and quickly proved both cheaper, and more effective, than conventional vaccines.

The outcome was spectacular. Within 2 weeks there was a 90% decrease in the incidence of the disease in the areas covered by homeopathy; no decrease was apparent in the areas covered by conventional vaccines.

This was repeated in September 2008, but this time, 2.3 million people received the homeopathic remedy. Again, in the areas receiving the remedies, disease rates were significantly below the average, with no decrease in the other areas.

"The total annual incidence of Leptospirosis was reduced in the intervention region by 84% from 2007 to 2008, while incidence rose in the non-intervention region by 21%. The researchers considered numerous variables besides homeopathy that may have influenced the trends, but all were shown to be statistically non-significant.

Yet, the (conventional) Medical Journals, whose task it is to publish medical evidence of this sort, have refused to publish this evidence. This should not be too much of a surprise (it is certainly not to the world of homeopathy). The medical journals are fully under the malign influence of the Big Pharma companies - who certainly would not want this kind of evidence to be widely known.

CLEARLY, SOME PEOPLE DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW GOOD HOMEOPATHY IS!

AND WHY SHOULD THE FACTS GET IN THE WAY OF A HIGHTLY LUCRATIVE, ALTHOUGH VERY DANGEROUS, AND LARGELY USELESS, BUSINESS ENTERPRISE?

More drugs causing more problems

More drugs causing more problems
More webpages outline the problems taking Pharmaceutical drugs. They just keep finding out the disease-inducing-effects of these awful drugs.

This study shows that people taking NSAID painkillers (many, many millions of people throughout the world) run the risk of getting heart disease - and dying. And this is so even with short-term use.

This report from Reuters refers to long-term studies linking Diabetes drugs with bladder cancer.

This popular painkiller (sold over the counter, I believe) is now linked with blood cancer.

And last, but not least, what about Aspirin? Surely nothing wrong with this (apart from destroying the lining of our stomachs)! Well this has now been linked to Erectile Dysfunction!

The mayhem caused by ConMed drugs, and the profits accumulated to Big Pharma, just continues. I have seen none of these mentioned in the mainstream media. This means that we are being let down by our government, the ConMed establishment, including our doctors, and the media.

Vaccinations: are they safe? Or not?

Vaccinations: are they safe? Or not?
The safety of vaccines are a concern for everyone. The conventional medical (ConMed) establishment tell us they are safe. Yet the experience of so many people is that they cause enormous damage, and death, especially to children.

This video outlines the fact that governments are paying out $millions for the brain damage caused by vaccines.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1ZPHckoEJU&feature=youtu.be

This AHRP webpage has uncovered 83 cases where huge government payouts (that is, our money, not from drug companies) have been made
http://www.ahrp.org/cms/content/view/804/9/

This website says that these 83 cases are only 'the tip of the iceberg'
http://healthimpactnews.com/2011/83-cases-of-autism-associated-with-childhood-vaccine-just-tip-of-the-iceberg/

And this website finds clear vaccine-autism links - from government data.
http://www.ahrp.org/cms/content/view/804/9/

The government, the conventional medical establishment, and sadly even our GPs, are not telling us the truth about vaccines. We are just not supposed to know!

The Health Debate (7). Patient Choice and the ConMed Monopoly in the NHS

The Health Debate (7). Patient Choice and the ConMed Monopoly in the NHS
It was never the intention that the NHS became a monopoly supplier of just one type of medicine.

Nonetheless, this is virtually the position as it exists today. All UK citizens are all entitled to NHS treatment. But when anyone asks for it, we are routinely and unquestioningly given one type of medicine - conventional, drug based medicine - ConMed.

What this usually means is that patients are prescribed Big Pharma drugs - that are often useless, and usually dangerous and detrimental to our health - and which an increasing number of people do not want.

So what should the Media be asking about this situation? These are just some of the questions they should be asking, if they were doing their job, and engaging us in "the Health Debate".
  • Why does ConMed dominate the NHS for completely? Why are patients not offered information about, and access to different therapies to treat their illnesses?
  • Why does the NHS fail totally to provide patients with information about and access to the different medical therapies available for treating illness?
  • Why is the ConMed Establishment seeking to stop the NHS spending even small amounts of money on homeopathy, and other CAM therapies?
  • Why is the NHS not researching non-drug therapies, like homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, reflexology, and others, in terms of the outcomes of such therapies? Why is the NHS not comparing these outcomes with the outcomes from ConMed treatment?
  • Why are many Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) refusing to allow patients to have access to homeopathy, and other CAM therapies, and what is their justification for doing so?
  • Why, when patients are entitled to, and have paid for medical treatment on the NHS, are they being routinely denied access to the therapy of their informed choice.
  • Should patients not have the right to make an informed decision about the medical therapy they wish to use to treat their illness?
  • Why are patients being told that conditions are 'untreatable' by ConMed practitioners when they are treatable using other medical therapies?
Every political party in the UK now speaks about ‘patient choice’. Yet for any patient to have real informed choice, and any patient to give real informed consent, to any treatment, they need access to information about all medical therapies.

The NHS is currently failing to provide both information about alternative medical therapies, and giving patients proper access to them.
But perhaps equally important, the Media, in failing to ask these questions, and provide discussion on all these issues, is failing lamentably in its duty to its readers, listeners and viewers.

Instead there is a tacit assumption, rife within the mainstream Media, that ConMed is the best medicine for everyone, when for an increasing number of us it is most certainly not. Increasing numbers of people are looking for non-drug treatment, and are turning to Homeopathy, and other CAM therapies. Despite this, the Media seems content to suck up to the ConMed Establishment, afraid to question it, fearful of challenging it,and  considering it to be the sole source of medical expertise.

For real patient choice, and to ensure patients are fully informed, every GP surgery should be able to provide good quality and unbiased information about Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Osteopathy, Reflexology, and other medical therapies.

The eighth and final part of this series will seek to make some concluding remarks about 'the Health Debate", and why our mainstream media are refusing to engage.

If you would like to be informed when the final part of this series is published, why not become a 'follower', and sign up for this blog; or subscribe to it by email - and join the Health Debate.
